THUNDERCATS INTRO 1080P SERIES
I sat down watched every episode of the old series before watching the new one, and nearly every one is incredibly simplistic and formulaic. The animation in the actual episodes is pretty standard for the mid-80s, and what made it stand out was the animesque character designs and great looking backgrounds. Yeah, the intro of the old one was fantastic, but that's it. I like both the old and new series, but if you think the old one is leagues over the new one, then you're the one who's deluded and wearing Nostalgia Goggles. Everyone seems to love focusing on the shipping drama as this huge deal breaker like it ruined the whole series when it was only focused on for like five episodes and then got resolved midway through the series and was hardly touched on again. And he only moped over the romance stuff for about three episodes at most before he got over it, so you're over exaggerating. How much of the 2011 did you even watch? Because Lion-O clearly does do the Thundercats cry several times throughout the series, just not every episode. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -Mugen "I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. The old 80's intro alone is more action-awe inducing than any episode shown in the 2011 series.Įdited 25th May '13 5:19:47 AM by Couchpotato20 Just because of new animation and so on, there is absolutely nothing about the new series which made it stand out and be above the old. Hell, Jaga vs Grune in the 80's series is people's favorite episode by far. Anyone saying otherwise is deluding themselves. If I compared the 26 episodes of the old Thundercats series and the new one. Also there wasn't even a once an episode when Lion-O did the Thundercats cry. IIRC Thundercats 2011 DIDN'T have an intro.

The animation for the intro was boss and nearly everyone loved and calls it the most memorable piece. Also the fight scenes were done tastefully and romance, the most annoying piece of 2011 didn't make Lion-O a big crybaby because he couldn't get what he want.Īdditionally, saying things like "animation sucked" showed you didn't watch it enough. The amount of praise the old one received is unbelievable. (Also I have no idea what the actual bitrate Youtube is throwing out for 8k.Okay, when you say the 2011 Thundercats "blows the old one out of the water easily" I say that's Opinion Myopia.

It should be to make a video that works well on the current tech platforms (which is 4k at best) and make it look like a better version over what a standard resize/scale would do.Ĭause really, with a clean source I could probably do better with nothing more than Gigapixel and Avisynth. The end goal of these sort of projects shouldn’t be to give you a true 8k experience, cause that’s not possible.

Even 1080p today looks better than it did 20 years ago just because camera sensor technology has progressed that much. There is always going to be a big difference between filming something in +4k, taking an analog source and capturing it in +4k, and using a computer to upscale to +4k. It’s overly sharp, yet the edges and lines are soft and distorted. He looked at me like I grew a second head. I asked the sales guy to flat line a couple of them, zero out the bass, mid, and treble and turn off any of the enhancements. Back in the late 90’s I was at Circuit City trying to pick out a new aftermarket CD player for my car. And then most of them are playing some type of “stock” promotional footage that is optimized to the TV. All of them have the brightness, contrast, and saturation blown completely out. It’s like going to Best Buy and viewing TV’s. Second, I think the vast majority of people have a very skewed idea of what is supposed to look good. Worst case they are taking some over compressed sd res video they found on the net and started there. More than likely someone is working from a broadcast tape of some sort (if they are lucky). If you could get the physical animation film or cells and then obtain a +4k scan of them you’d have a really really solid basis to clean up the source from. Not like that matters, it still looks like hot garbage. I didn’t even watch it until your comment.
